Cody Demarah
Welcome to Larry's BMW. My name is Cody Demarah. I am one of the proud owners and lead technician at our BMW repair shop. With over 15 years of experience working specifically with BMW vehicles, my love for these remarkable machines has only grown deeper over the years.
Growing up, I developed a love for cars at an early age. This was mostly due to my father, Lawrence Demarah, being a BMW master tech and previous BMW repair shop owner. Out of all other vehicles, it was the engineering and performance of BMWs that truly captivated me. I began my journey as a technician under my father's wings as well as a fellow BMW master tech named Paul, dedicating myself to mastering the intricacies of BMW engineering, diagnostics, and BMW repair.
Throughout my career, I've had the privilege of working on a wide range of BMW models, from the classics to the latest innovations. Each vehicle presents its own unique challenges, and I thrive on using my expertise to solve problems and enhance performance. My goal is not just to fix your car but to ensure it runs at its best for years to come. I believe in building lasting relationships with our customers, and I treat every vehicle that comes through our shop as if it were my own. From a young age, I developed a fascination for automobiles, particularly the engineering marvels that BMW has to offer. This passion has driven me to become not a technician, but an expert in the brand.
Over the years, I've had the pleasure of working with a range of BMW vehicles, from classic models to the latest innovations. Each car presents its own set of challenges, which I embrace wholeheartedly. About Our Founder: Larry Demarah
Lawrence Demarah was born in 1950 in Pomona, California. The first memory of his life was riding in the back of a 1950 Chevy Coupe. He was just laying on the suede felt back seat and looking up at the ceiling. He loved the feel and sound of the engine and the trees going by in the windows. He couldn’t stand up yet in the back of the car. Larry’s father loved cars, but he was not good mechanically, so Larry began working on cars when he was six or seven years old. He understood how things operated and he could also get that idea to pass through his brain to his hands and to a tool. Diagnosing was always Larry’s favorite thing to do on a car, and he was good at it!
Larry learned to drive when he was nine years old, where his family owned property in the Mojave desert. Larry did his first street driving in Mexico City at 14 years old. He always loved engines, cars, noise, and going too fast. Larry worked at a Shell station in Newport and Huntington Beach from 1965 to 1968. By the time he was 17 years old, he was a master technician on Volkswagen and Porsche in Newport Beach, where they only worked on European cars. He then went to college for seven years and graduated from San Diego State University with a degree in sociology.
After this, Larry traveled….
His love affair for BMWs began in 1970 when he lived in Goleta, California, and spotted a 1600 BMW from behind and chased it down to see what it was. Larry’s next sighting was a 1973 3.0 coupe. He was forever in love, and after driving BMWs, he became convinced that BMW was the most beautifully driven car along with styling and safety.
Larry’s mechanical career on BMWs began in Sorrento Valley where he worked exclusively on BMW from 1978 to 1989. He then worked in Carlsbad from 1989 to 1993. After this, Larry managed a shop in Encinitas and also downtown San Diego, from 1993 to 2004. He opened Larry’s BMW Repair Service about 10 years ago. These are the only shops Larry had ever worked in. Always around BMW.
Larry loved BMWs. It’s true. His shop is now operated by his sons. Larry’s BMW Repair Service is truly a family run business.
